This is the very story that made me decide to become a Writer.
I was about 10 when I heard it for the first time.
It was years later that I actually saw the film.
It was fitting then, that the first time I saw it on TV was on the Twilight Zone.

The Twilight Zone was a great series, quite different from anything else on TV at the time. It was the hope of many writers in its time, and clearly a watershed moment for you. -Q

I showed this movie to a bunch of high-school juniors when I was student teaching, and it was the first time I saw it, too. Trippy!
